An antebellum garden……

Formal gardens are grounded in symmetry with geometric forms training chaos into order. Fountains and evergreen shrubbery are used in abundance so that the garden is pleasing to the eye even in the winter when few blooms can be found.

These pictures were taken at the antebellum Cedar Grove Inn in Vicksburg, Mississippi. It is a delightful bed and breakfast where you will find a cannonball shot into the mansion during the Siege of Vicksburg still imbedded in a doorframe. It also has a fantastic restaurant with outdoor dining space looking over the back garden.
