Too….Early Spring

Mother Nature has been up to her old tricks here in the Deep South. After weeks of fluctuating temperatures, we had a warm spell which has caused the spring bulbs and flowering shrubs and trees to show their colors…..in January….by far, the earliest I have ever seen. Some local gardeners (who have seen a few more winters than I have) are in agreement, they have rarely seen daffodils in full bloom in mid-January. Unfortunately, freezes will soon follow and nip the little buds and blooms, so I guess we should just enjoy the color the bright yellow forsythia, hot pink quince buds and buttery yellow daffodils give for the time being in our otherwise dreary, brown landscape!
