Fragrant Blooms

There is no glory in star or blossom till looked upon by a loving eye; There is no fragrance in April breezes till breathed with joy as they wander by.
William Cullen Bryant

My garden is full fragrant blooms, from the intoxicating fragrance of David Austin’s roses….

to the “Kleim’s Hardy” Gardenia that is next to the window that fills my living room with its sweet fragrance…

  1. I have gardenia bushes by my front door, specifially for their fabulous fragrance. Unfortunately, there is not enough sun at that spot, and I only get a few blossoms. Your photos are wonderful!

  2. What amazing photos! and what amazing flowers! I love gardenias! We can’t grow them outside here, and I managed to kill one in a container last year (bugs of some sort). How wonderful for you to be able to enjoy them so easily.

    • Yes, they grow profusely here! There is one about half a mile from my house by an old homesite that is nine feet high and about 5 feet wide! It was blooming a few weeks ago and I could smell it as I walking from about 100 yds away! They can be a bit finicky before they get established, I am currently having trouble with one myself, so definitely give it another try!
